ASUU STRIKE: Schools May Resume On Monday After Emergency NEC Meeting This Weekend
Latest developments indicate that the five-month old ASUU strike, may be called off over the weekend. A source who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen that the National Executive Council, NEC meeting, which was suspended indefinitely because of the death of Late Professor Festus Iyayi, a former president of the Union, maybe be reconvened on Saturday.
He said that Iyayi’s death brought shock to the Union, especially as he was on his way to official assignment and the ASUU had to put the meeting on hold to honour him.

Shuaib told a news conference on Friday in Lokoja that the association received the news of the death of Iyayi with shock.

Activist's death derails end to Nigeria university strike
Nigerians urge the academic union to resume negotiations to end nearly five months of university strikes.
prominent member of Nigeria's academic workers' union suddenly died just as leaders appeared ready to put an end to the months-long strike that has shuttered universities across the country.
Festus Iyayi was killed in a car crash on the way to an Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) leadership meeting. His vehicle was struck by a convoy that allegedly belonged to Kogi state governor Idris Wada. Three others involved in the crash are said to be in critical condition. The ASUU meeting has reportedly been suspended following Iyayi's death.

A passenger fell out of small plane and plummeted into the water in Miami's Biscayne Bay today, police said.
The plane was flying at 1,800 feet at the time.
Air traffic control received a "mayday" call around 1:30 p.m. ET when the Piper PA 46 was flying roughly eight miles southeast of Tamiami Executive Airport.

A man believed to be in his late thirties was lynched yesterday after he attempted to rob an MTN sales point at gunpoint. He was in the company of two others during the robbery operation but he was not lucky, as he was grabbed by an angry mob and subsequently beaten and set on fire.
The robber, who gave his name as Romeo, claimed to be a resident of Kasoa Barrier in the Central Region.A Nigerian gang member who resides at Ashaiman Tulaku barrier, according to the deceased, gave information about the sales point.
