 34-Year-Old Farmer Sentenced To Death For Robbery Attempt-  Emeka Ogwu is in life in prison now
A  DELTA State High Court sitting at Effurun has sentenced a 34-year-old farmer, one Emeka Ogwu to death after pronouncing him guilty of the offence of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The court found him guilty on three count charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, attempt to commit robbery and illegal possession of firearm, contrary to sections 1 (2) (a), 2(1) and (2) and 3 (1) of the Robbery and firearms (Special Provisions) Acts, Cap R. II, Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
In its judgement, the court said that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubts the ingredients of the offences against the accused.

He was slammed with capital punishment for count one which is conspiracy to commit armed robbery, life imprisonment for count two and 10years in jail for count three.
Emeka Ogwu, was 30 years when he committed the offence hails from Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA of Delta State and was said to have attempted to rob one Dorothy Asekpokai at her building site around Osubi.

Dorothy, who gave evidence in the court during the trial, did not only identify the convict as the one who attempted to rob her with a gun but also told the court how she escaped by the whiskers by pretending to obey her assailant's  order by knocking him down with her car and raise alarm which attract men of the Ekpan Police Command that led to his eventual arrest and recovery of one locally made pistol, five live cartridges and one expended cartridge which was tendered and admitted in court as exhibits.

Earlier, in his written address, Prosecutor had hold the court that evidence against Emeka Ogwu was overwhelming and urged the court to convict him accordingly.
